Live Good – Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month
September is preventable. Often people make a permanent decision as a result of deep pain. Wanting that sense of pain to stop and not having safe alternatives is dangerous.
Depression is depressing! When you hurt, you hurt. It is truly a cycle. When you are hurting you're more likely to engage in the very same behaviors that cause hurt (self-harm, substance abuse, self-hate, toxic relationships, etc) and by engaging in hurtful behaviors, you just feel even more hurt.
When you're hurting, you cause hurt to others. The saying "hurt people hurt people" is true. Whether the hurt caused was intentional or unintentional, it still hurts.
Most hurt people aren't even aware that they are hurting themselves (self-hate) let alone others. They function in dysfunction.
The good news is that the antidote to self-hate, self-harm, and hurting other is self-love (self-care). Gain awareness of the sources of hurt and learn the true meaning of self-care with the assistance of a qualified therapist. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, there is help. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
