Therapy is also called counseling or psychotherapy.

Therapy is a special process in which a person with a licensed counselor/therapist/psychotherapist seeks to resolve issues concerning relationships, negative beliefs/thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

When utilized, therapy can be proactive. Through the safety and reliability therapy provides; destructive patterns are replaced with healthy positive coping skills.

Why should I attend therapy?

Therapy is for everyone. It is the best investment in yourself that you can make. Therapy can help you get to the source of your challenges. It helps address the innermost areas of your life to obtain the growth necessary. Mental wellness improves all areas of your life.

What benefits can I expect from working with a therapist?

A number of benefits are available from participating in therapy. The benefits you might obtain depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

Benefits of counseling include:

Trust is a necessary aspect of the therapeutic process. Confidentiality is essential to establishing trust and building the therapist-client alliance.

Information shared during sessions is respected and treated as private. Communication between a client and a licensed therapist is confidential and, in general, may not be disclosed to anyone without your prior written consent.

Although counseling is confidential, there are certain exceptions.

These exceptions include:

How do I decide what form of therapy is right for me?

During your initial phone consultation, we will review your needs to determine the therapy service best for you.

It is helpful to select the therapy format that addresses your main concern. Therapy can address problems with family (family therapy), a relationship (couples therapy), or personal conflict (individual therapy).

What should I do if my family or partner doesn’t want to attend therapy?

Therapy works best when you are open to the process and honest. Positive changes can still take place by attending individual therapy.

I want to do therapy but how can I afford it?

Therapy requires a commitment of time and resources for your personal benefit. It is helpful to budget therapy as you would other wellness costs. Reduce fees are available (limited spaces) for those that need it. Your sessions can be spaced biweekly or monthly to further assist your investment.

What happens during my first session?

During the first session, we will begin making a connection and getting to know each other. We will complete the necessary forms, consents, and discuss confidentiality.

An initial interview will be completed with questions about your background, strengths, and presenting concerns.

We will review your expectations and goals regarding counseling.

How long will therapy last?

The length of counseling will vary depending on your specific needs or circumstance. Therapy can be short-term, to address specific issues, or longer, to address difficult behavior patterns or a desire for personal growth.

Frequency is typically weekly unless more assistance is preferred. Some clients find considerable relief, improvement, and positive change between 7 to 10 sessions.
